Supporting the Carer
Many Carers have their own health issues and struggle to cope with their own needs in addition to those of the person they are caring for. Families may suffer psycho-socio-economic problems due to loss of income, loss of social stimulation and increased domestic disharmony in a household affected by a family member who suffers from a long-term illness. These circumstances often put the carers health at risk, impairing their quality of life and compromising their ability to cope with their circumstances.
A broad range of research shows that main stream complementary therapies reduce anxiety, depression and associated symptoms. Research also shows that carers who receive a range of complementary therapies and training in self-care, demonstrate improved coping and general health
